We attended a wedding party here in Delhi on Friday evening. We hadn’t actually ever met the couple, but we were invited by a good friend of Rahul’s. It was kind of a post-wedding party as the real marriage had happened earlier in another city. I was very excited to see at least some type of wedding and it was a nice event.
Basically the moment we entered the party we were served with cocktails and snacks which were delicious and kept on coming. There was not really any ceremony so it was just a reception with food, live band, dj and guests. People were taking a lot of photographs with the newlyweds and they had built an altar for them. Some of the guests also performed some songs for the happy couple.
The decor was lovely golden with an outdoor tent that had beautiful draping on it and matching seating area. There was so much food and the variety was huge. Tandoori grills, kababs, indian curries, salads, pasta, soup, desserts, pani puri you name it! Amazing food.
The wedding party was quite small, not too many people, and it was pretty quiet except for the music. Not nearly as loud as I had expected of indian weddings. Not even any dancing went on. We also left a bit early as the drive back was long. All in all it was a cool event in the outdoors.
